Accompanying their father on his trips to Russia, Italy and Ghana this week, the first daughters Malia and Sasha have had an opportunity to take in the sites.

Yesterday, the Associate Press reported, the girls were spotted in Rome, making and eating Italy’s famous gelato. They then joined their mother for a private tour of the Coliseum.

As is common during G8 summits, activities have been organized for the leaders’ spouses. First lady Michelle Obama joined others for a tour of antiquities in Rome yesterday before surveying earthquake damage in L’Aquila today.
